Typologies of Secadero, Granada
Diving deeper into searching for the typologies of Secaderos back in April this year, I travelled to the villages near Granada. One could easily identify the Secaderos juxtaposing the Andalucian landscape of harmonious Olive trees. These tall barn structures, mostly dilapidated now, had an enormous presence with their scale.
I was told how they would work for air-curing for the tobacco. How 4-5m long cut plants out leaves hung through the ceiling and workers would spend hours non-stop working. Add when the sun would get high, they'd sit in the shade of the large barn and roll their own tobacco. There was always a sense of nostalgia as I heard these stories from the locals.
